Kress, Texas—Emma Jean Yowell Berner, 75, of Kress passed away on Monday, March 26, 2007 in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Gerald Petsch officiating. Burial will follow in Kress Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Berner was born on March 13, 1932 in Plainview. She attended schools there in Plainview. She married Herbert Berner on Jan. 13, 1951 in Plainview. They moved to Kress where she worked for Kress ISD in the cafeteria as a cook for many years. She also worked for Andrus Greenhouse delivering flowers. She later worked for RSVP for several years. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Tulia. Mrs. Berner was a lady devoted to her family. She was the strongest lady in their lives and she worked hard until her father came, took her hand and said its time to come home with me my child. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert on Nov. 16, 2005. Survivors include a daughter, Dianna Davis of San Antonio; four sons, Chris Berner of Wellton, Arizona, David Berner of Cayuga, Indiana, Bill Berner of Whiteside, Tennessee, Bob Berner of Happy, Texas; one brother, Harold Lloyd Yowell of Kress; one sister, Nancy McClanahan of Cayuga, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Tulia.
