Genna Hackler Price (Plainview)

Genna Hackler Price, 82, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Bob DuPont, Chaplain at VistaCare Hospice, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 7, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Price was born on January 6, 1928 in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma to Troy Wallace & Della Bacon Hackler. Her family moved to Olton, Texas in 1929. She grew up in Olton and graduated from Olton High School. She then attended Wayland Baptist University. She married Olen “Flake” Price on January 5, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived in Plainview from 1947-55 then moved back to Olton. They returned to Plainview in 1966. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a secretary for Lilly Hoffman Cooling Towers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Flake on January 11, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leroy Hackler and a sister, Mildred Walker. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Hughes and husband Johnny of Canyon, Cathy Terry and husband Eugene of Forney; one sister, Margaret True and husband Riley of Plainview; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to VistaCare Hospice, 1717 Norfolk Ave., Lubbock, Texas 79416 or to the Olton Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1055, Olton, Texas 79064.
