Tulia, Texas— Evangelina “Mrs. Eva” Bernal, 70, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tulia with Father Ken Keller and Father Marco Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Bernal was born February 27, 1940 in Asherton, Texas to Faustino and Ruberta Cardona. She married Ernesto Bernal on April 13, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2001. Mrs. Bernal owned and operated Ernie’s BBQ for over 40 years. She was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tulia. She is survived by one daughter: Hilda Hernandez and husband Ralph of Tulia; three sons: Albert Bernal of Tulia, Hector Bernal and wife Jessie of Aurora, Illinois and Richard Bernal and wife Linda of Amarillo; one brother: Faustino Cardona, Jr. and wife Alida of Plainview; four sisters: Olga Martinez and husband Lupe of Houston, Olivia Martinez of Asherton, Virginia Jaramillo of Hereford and Edilia Sifuentes and husband Fermin of Amarillo; nine grandchildren and Eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son: Ramiro Bernal. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and Monday at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia.
