Virginia Palmer Simpson, 85, of Plainview, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2007 in Covenant Medical Center of Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 in First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Palmer Simpson was born on December 29, 1921 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Ab H. and Bessie Allen Hutchens. Mrs. Palmer Simpson graduated from Rule High School in 1939. She attended Tarleton State College and the University of Houston. She worked for Atlantic Richfield in Houston for 29 years. Mrs. Palmer Simpson moved to Haskell in 1980 and worked for Haskell National Bank. She married Emmett Palmer on August 14, 1984 in Amarillo and moved to Plainview the same year. Mr. Palmer passed away on May 25, 1995. She married Lawrence B. Simpson on April 24, 1997 in San Angelo. Mr. Simpson passed away on November 1, 2004. She was a member of the Women’s Division of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, the Hospital Auxillary, the International Flying Farmers where she was the first women president, First Baptist Church and Leota Hardgrove Sunday School Class. She is survived by two step daughters: Diane Palmer of Colleyville and Jeannie Hamilton of Abilene; four step sons: Dana Palmer of Lubbock, Dean Palmer of Coppell, Don Palmer of Royse City and James Simpson of Parker, Arizona and nine step grandchildren.
