Charles R. Hildreth, 70, of Petersburg passed away on April 1, 2007 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Petersburg Cemetery with Rev. Sharon Wiese of the First United Methodist Church of Littlefield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Mr. Hildreth was born on October 14, 1936 in Petersburg. He grew up there in Petersburg and attended schools there. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 22 years. He retired from active duty in 1977. He worked for the Rework facility on F-14's at Northhighland in San Diego, California. They moved back to Petersburg in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, VFW, and the Naval Fleet Reserve. Survivors include his wife, Janet Hildreth of the Home; three children, Katrena Pritchard of San Diego, CA, Keith Hildreth of Lakeside, CA, and Johnny Hildreth of Palm Springs, CA; two brothers, J.B. Hildreth of Powell, Wyoming, Tommy Hildreth of Petersburg, Texas; one sister, Louise Miller of Petersburg, Texas; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Hildreth and Kenneth Hildreth, and two sisters, Roxie Fox and Ruth Saffel.
