TULIA – Glenn R. Carruth, 99, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Central Church of Christ with Bruce Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 P.M., Monday at the funeral home and also at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday at Central Church of Christ. Glenn Carruth was born on July 19, 1911, in Wheeler County, Texas to William J. and Julia E. Davis Carruth. He married Lela Grant on June 20, 1937, in Pampa, she preceded him in death on April 9, 1986. He worked as a climbing steel worker and was Chief Deputy of Gray County. They then moved from Pampa to Tulia in 1946 where he farmed for many years. He served several Boards including the Texas Wheat Growers and the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Toast Masters Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Grant F. Carruth of Old Hickory, TN, Dr. Ted R. Carruth of Nashville, TN and Dr. David G. Carruth of Amarillo, TX, eight grandchildren, Kurt Carruth, Paul Carruth, Mary Alhasasneh, Amy Brown, Ellen Carruth, Karen Luttrell, Melanie Carr, and Stefanie Carruth, thirteen great grandchildren, Jack Carruth, Zeva Carruth, Lela Carruth, Cross Carruth, Chandler Carruth, Angel Al-Hasnawi, Ray Al-Hasnawi, Mo Al-Hasnawi, Reagan Barber, Britain Barber, Nate Luttrell, Luke Luttrell and Caden Carr and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
