Mary Knoohuizen (Plainview)

Mary Knoohuizen, 86, of Plainview, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church with her cousin, Judge John Boyd of Amarillo officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., downstairs in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church. Mary was born June 20, 1924 in Plainview, Texas to R.H. and Myrtle Boyd Knoohuizen. She grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School and Colorado Women’s College. After college, she worked for Oakridge Laboratories in Oakridge, TN and Southwestern Medical School in Dallas as a research technician. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church and Chapter BL of P.E.O. Mary is survived by one nephew: Blaine Smith of Plainview; two nieces: Nancy Knoohuizen of Boulder, CO and Lisa Shepelwich of Fort Worth and their families; and many other grand nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Ray Knoohuizen, and her sister: Jean Smith. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 205 W. 8th. Street, Plainview, Texas 79072.
