Dwight Jarry, 79, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Dwight was born on October 12, 1931 in Jacksonville, Arkansas to William and Anna Jarry. In 1949 he graduated from Bigelow, Arkansas High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas in 1955. After college Mr. Jarry entered the United States Army and served as Education Specialist in France. Following military service he worked in consumer lending for Security Pacific National Bank in Indio, California. In 1960 he re-enrolled at the University of Arkansas to complete requirements for a teaching credential and was employed by Indio Elementary School District. He earned a Master of Education degree at the University of Texas while participating in an Experienced Teacher Fellowship Program in Mathematics Education. He moved to Plainview in 1981 and taught at Ash 6th Grade Learning Center and at Houston School. He worked on various district committees including Academy 3, and served as Mathematics Chairman for Ash. He was a member of ATPE. He retired from teaching in 2000 having taught 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist church. He married Lana Sadberry on March 30, 1969 in Lubbock. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vanessa Jarry Crawford; his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his wife Lana Jarry of Plainview; one daughter, Carole Jarry Hunt and husband Brian of Olton; granddaughter, Emory Hunt of Olton, daughter of Carole and Brian Hunt; two grandsons, Austin Crawford and Blake Crawford, children of Boyd and April Crawford; and two sisters, Annie Cameron and Jo Jarry.
