Tulia, Texas—Johnny Tell Nix, 71, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Tulia with his daughter Lee Moore officiating. Cremation services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Nix was born March 5, 1940 in Plainview, Texas to John and Mary Nix. He was a long time farmer, cattleman and horseman. He had a love for family, friends, music and a great passion for horses. He was a 1958 graduate from Tulia High School and attended West Texas State University. He is survived by his partner, Joyce Childers; two daughters: Lee Moore and husband Lee and Dee Roberts and husband Ted; one son: Cord Nix and wife Debby and four grandchildren: Mace Moore, Magen Pearson, Charlsea Ewing and Lacy J. Nix. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half sisters. The family invites you to come out to Johnny’s barn to reminisce and honor his memory following the service.
