Ermis Chaffin Goble (Plainview)

Ermis Chaffin Goble, 86, of Lubbock died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at her home. Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, with Dr. Baron Eliason, pastor officiating. A visitation will follow the service from 11:00 – 12:00 there at the Church. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Ermis was born in Aiken, Texas February 11, 1925 to Hulit and Claudie McAfee Kidd. She graduated from Lockney high school in 1944. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. On June 25, 1944 she married Ray F. (Bud) Buchanan in Plainview, Texas. They made their home in Plainview for 30 years. Bud passed away in 1973. She moved to Lubbock in 1976 when she married Dr. Cadman Chaffin and he passed away in 1991. She married W.L. Goble in 1994 and he passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Carol Ann Buchanan Lawson, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Ermis was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by her son Jim Buchanan of Lubbock; her son-in-law, Dr. Noel Lawson of Little Rock, Arkansas; 3 step-daughters, Adria Kitten and husband Gordon of Lubbock, Gail Chaffin of Dallas, Carolyn Stone and husband Terry of Plano; 2 step-sons, Greg Chaffin and wife Trish of Dallas, Carl Chaffin and wife Debbie of Roswell, N.M.; 12 grandchildren, Morgan Ellsberry, Ashley, Allison, and Nicolas Chaffin, Callie and Mackenzie Chaffin, Michael Buchanan, Michelle Buchanan, J.B. Lawson and his wife Lauren, Katherine Noel Lawson and Jason Buchanan; 3 great-grandchildren, Walter and Charles Lawson and Jacob Buchanan and numerous nieces and nephews. The family request contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
