Virginia Lee Owens (Plainview)

Virginia Lee Owens, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Plainview. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Plainview Memorial Park with Rev. Gary McClendon officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Funeral services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Owens was born to Walter and Hazel Cox on March 26, 1931 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in Norman, Oklahoma. She married Gene Owens on August 6, 1955. Mrs. Owens received her certification as a registered nurse from St. Anthony’s school of nursing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She worked as a registered nurse in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. They lived in Aiken, Texas for thirty years where she assisted in the post office. In 1993 Mrs. Owens retired from the Lockney Hospital. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Plainview, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hazel Cox; her son, David Andrew Owens; her sister, Jeanette Huggins; and step dad, David Tiffins. She is survived by her husband, Gene Owens of Plainview, TX; one son, Keith Owens of Plainview, TX; and four grandchildren, Brooklyn, Valerie, Vanessa and Kolton Owens.
