Alene Martin (Plainview)

Alene Martin, 95, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 6, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Alene was born on August 3, 1915 in Stanton, Martin County, Texas to Chalmer and Susan Norton. She grew up in Whiteflat, TX where she attended school and graduated. She married Joe B. Martin on December 24, 1935 in Floydada, TX. They moved to Plainview in 1955. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. Mrs. Martin was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Martin; her parents, Chalmer and Susan Norton; one brother; and five sisters. Survivors include her son, Joe A. Martin and wife Reta of Plainview, TX; three granddaughters, Vickie Webb and husband David of Grapevine, TX, Cindy McAnally and husband Randall of Brownwood, Susan Devine and husband Bill of Allen, TX; five great grandchildren, Russell James and wife Lakann of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler James and wife Terra of Amarillo, TX, Christopher McAnally of Brownwood, TX, Carson McAnally of Brownwood, TX, and Chase Devine of Allen, TX.
