Tulia, Texas—Pauline Thornton, 100, died Friday, May 20, 2011 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 23, 2011 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Bruce Baird, pastor of Central Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday May 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Pauline was born April 13, 1911 in Bell Co., TX. She grew up at Lone Star and attended schools there. She graduated from Lockney High School. She married Joe F. Thornton in April 1931. She was a housewife. They farmed and ranched. They moved to Briscoe Co. in 1939, to Swisher Co. in 1948 and to Gunnison, Colorado in 1962 and moved back to Tulia in January, 1977. She was a member of the 6th & Gaines Church of Christ in Tulia. She is preceded in death by her husband: Joe Thornton in December 1977, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and David Finch of Tulia, one son and daughter-in-law: J. and Virginia Thornton of Tulia, five grandsons and eleven great grandchildren.
