Leota Elizabeth Johnson Bolding (Plainview)

Leota Elizabeth Johnson Bolding, 84, former Plainview resident, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in the chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors with Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Leota was born on February 26, 1927, in Friona, Texas, to Arthur and Myrtle Hilton Johnson. She moved to Hale County in 1936. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1945 and Lippert Business College in 1947. She worked at the Dixie Dress Shop, the Marshall-Davis Dress Shop and the Plainview Daily Herald. In 1993 she retired from the Plainview Daily Herald after 27 years of employment. Leota married Bob Bolding in Hale County. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1987. In Plainview, Leota was a member of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, Plainview Business and Professional Women's Club, Plainview Christian Women of Light and Trinity Methodist Church. In Granbury, Leota was a member of Granbury First United Methodist Church, Chapel Sunday School Class, Lake Granbury Emmaus Group and New Beginnings Women's Club. Leota was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Leota was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Johnson; sister, Dorothy Waddell; brother, Charles Johnson; and nephew, Randy Johnson. She is survived by two sons: Bobby Bolding and wife Gayle of Robert Lee and Rick Bolding and wife Lou of Littlefield; one daughter: Roxanne Mayo and husband Terry of Granbury; seven grandchildren: Deidra Mata of Surprise, AZ, Bree Sherwood of Robert Lee, Brady Bolding of Robert Lee, Megan Mayo of Lubbock, Kayci Bolding of Lubbock, Tyler Bolding of Lubbock and Hunter Mayo of College Station; five great grandchildren: Joshua and Madisen Mata of Surprise, AZ, Brayden and Brenner Sherwood of Robert Lee and Montana Bolding of Robert Lee; one sister-in-law: Pat Johnson of Guymon, OK; two nieces: Frankie Hembree of Plainview and Donna Ketcherside of Plains, KS and one nephew: Robby Johnson of Goodwell,OK.
