Lena Essie Boone Goodlett Stewart, 91, formerly of Plainview, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she had recently moved to be with her daughter, Rolla Jean. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gary Yates, associate pastor of College Heights Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation for family and friends will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Lena was born on February 9, 1920 to John Lucien and Lucy Ella (Dalton) Boone, at their home in Halfway, Texas. She grew up in Halfway, Texas and graduated from Plainview High School and then attended a business school in Plainview. She and her son Kevin had a successful fish store, “The Aquarium” in Plainview and after moving to Lubbock they opened “High Tech Aquarium”. Lena enjoyed working and did not totally retire until ten years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and faithful friend. Her love of cooking as well as her “home-cooking tips and recipes” were greatly enjoyed by her family. Lena always loved to correspond by hand-written letters, a treasured art that will be deeply missed by her family. She was a former member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh Goodlett; her sister, Lucile Boone Windwehen; her brother, Aubrey Jay Boone; and her son-in-law, Tim Scannell. Survivors include her husband, Ray Stewart of Lubbock; her daughter, Rolla Jean Scannell of Albuquerque, NM; her two sons, Aubrey Lee deCordova and wife Cheryl of San Angelo, TX, and Kevin Goodlett and wife, Elizabeth of Lubbock, TX; eight grandchildren: Clif Scannell and wife, Bridgett, Timmy Scannell and wife, Tiffany, Dr. Rand Waddingham, Clay deCordova and wife, Shelia, Emily deCordova, Erin Fiddyment and husband, Andrew, Hollyann Goodlett and Kayla Goodlett; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, cousins, and a beloved friend, Cora Ann Fletcher of Plainview.
