Melvin L. Bennett

Melvin L. Bennett, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 20, 2011 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Mr. Lanny Voss officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Melvin was born September 9, 1918 to O.L. and Laura Bennett in Wastelie, TX. He married Cleo Robinson on April 20, 1940.They moved to California where he worked on Aircraft for two years during WWII and later moved back to Plainview and began farming for the next thirty-six years. Mr. Bennett was a part of a Co-op Board, deacon at First Baptist Church, Good Sam’s Camper Club, and Meals on Wheels for Senior Citizen Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, O.L. & Laura Bennett; his siblings, Charlie Bennett, Lee Bennett, Jewel Bennett, Ollie & Hollie Bennett, William Bennett, Thomas (Doc) Bennett, Roy Bennett, Ila Bennett, Thelma Bennett, Vinson Bennett, and Avenell Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Bennett of Plainview, TX; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Mary K. Bennett of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Melveta & Ron Roberts of Plainview; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Doris McPeak of Waco, TX.
