Alfred “Alfie” Chavez, Jr., 29, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, with Rev. Steve Rogers and Mr. Oscar Chavez of Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Alfred Jr. was born December 7, 1981 to Alfred Sr. and Val Chavez, in Plainview, TX. He graduated from Petersburg High School. He married Leah Keltz on March 19, 2005 in Petersburg, TX. Alfie was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and worked for Hale County Precinct Two. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved animals and was particularly fond of his two cats, Stinker and Floppy, and his two dogs, Buddy and Ali. Alfie was never a stranger to anyone but easily befriended everyone. He is preceded in death by three uncles, Jesse and Joe Chavez, and Salvador Salas, Jr; and one cousin, Aaron Chavez. He is survived by his wife, Leah Chavez of Petersburg, TX; one daughter, Morgan Keltz; one son, Kyler Brain; his parents, Alfred and Val Chavez of Petersburg, TX; one brother, Mark Steven Chavez of Petersburg, TX; two sisters, Hope Ramos of Petersburg, TX and Christina Chavez of Littlefield, TX; his grandfather, Salvador Salas, Sr; father & mother-in-law, Larry and Sandy Keltz of Plainview, TX; two brothers-in-law, Joel and Peter Keltz of Lubbock, TX; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends, a niece and nephew.
