Henry Bratton Humphreys (Plainview)

Henry Bratton Humphreys, 88, of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Parkview Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2011 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Henry was born February 22, 1923 to Charlie and Janie Humphreys, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Dorthea Mae Hamlin on February 28, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1979. They lived in Hale County for 28 years with their two children, Karen and Chuck. He was self-employed laying pipeline throughout the panhandle. Later on he was a contractor for metal buildings. He also served as manager of the Hale County Airport until retiring. Henry was a member of Southside Assembly of God Church where he served on the building and missionary outreach committees. After retirement he moved to Colorado where he married Peggy Gollehon on July 24, 1983. They were a part of Living Springs Assembly of God Worship Center in Colorado Springs. He resided in Fountain, Colorado until his terminal illness. Mrs. Humphreys will continue to reside in Fountain. Henry is survived by his wife, Peggy Irene Humphreys of Foutain, CO; one daughter, Karen K. Music of Orting, WA; one son, Charles “Chuck” Humphreys and wife Eva Faye of Plainview, TX; four granddaughters, Sherri Manley & husband Gregg of Puyallup, WA, Melinda Coleman of Granbury, TX, Melody & Chris Hanson of Tacoma, WA, Candi Garcia & husband Robert of Plainview, TX; two grandsons, Scott Marczynski of Orting, WA and Tim Humphreys and wife Lois of Canyon, TX; three step-daughters, Coretta Williams & husband John of Mesquite, TX, Norma Marshall & husband Jim of Plano, TX, and Penny Gibson & husband Robert of Colorado Springs, CO; one step-granddaughter, Kimberly Kurtz & husband Michael of Forney, TX; two step-grandsons, Kyle Williams & wife Renee of Waco, TX and B.J. Gibson of Grand Junction, CO; Nine Grandchildren; one great great grandson; and one step great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Dorthea Mae Humphreys; his parents, Charlie and Janie Humphreys; seven sisters, Lila Mae Webster, Mattie Gene Rogers, Maude Elizabeth Holmes, Hattie Anna Humphreys, Janie Ruth Carden, Sarah Josephine Phillips, and Jessie Nathalie Humphreys.
