Tulia, Texas— Bernice Love Evans, 95, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Friday, June 15, 2007 in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. James Hassell, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Evans was born November 8, 1911 in Swisher County and growing up in the Love Community she attended schools there and graduated from Tulia High School. She married Cecil Evans on February 5, 1939 in Pampa, Texas. She worked a few years at the Telephone Company and several years for the Tulia Livestock Auction and also for the Love Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 54 years. Since 2003 she has lived at the Sisters Loving Arms Assisted Living Home in Lubbock. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Marsha and Allen Ellis of Lubbock and Janie and Fred Howell of Smithville, Tennessee, 2 grandsons; Judson Howell of Charlotte, NC and Jayton Ellis of Atlanta, GA and 1 great granddaughter; Hannah Marie Howell of Rowlett, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband; Cecil Evans, two sisters; Gladys Pyeatt and Betty Jo Barker and one brother; Hayden Love. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 101 N.
