Tulia, Texas— James Nickel, 64, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Tulia. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ed Soules, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. James was born October 6, 1943 in Tahoka, Texas. He grew up in Tulia and attended schools here. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He received a letter of recognition from President George W. Bush for over 4000 hours of volunteer service. He is preceded in death by his parents; R.E. Nickel and Dimmie Nickel. Survivors include one sister; Roberta Hotchkiss of Lubbock, two brothers; Donald Nickel of Lake McKenzie and Jerry Nickel of Tulia, several nieces and nephews and a very dear friend; Bonnie Purdy of Tulia.
