Glenn H. Phillips (Plainview)

Glenn H. Phillips, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007 at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Phillips was born May 1, 1922 in the Valley View Community, northwest corner of Hale County, to George H. and Annie Phillips. The Phillips were pioneer settlers of Hale County. Mr. Phillips graduated from Olton High School in 1940 and was a member of the Texas A&M class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during WWII as a member of the 754th Tank Battalion. He married Katherine Baker on July 29, 1949 in Plainview. Mr. Phillips farmed from 1946 to 1970. He owned and operated Plainview Feed & Supply from 1973 until retiring in 1987. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Elks Lodge, Plainview Amateur Radio Club, Plainview Poetry Society, Plainview Camp #1684 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Central Plains A&M Club, The Pastor’s Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Katherine Phillips; one daughter: Glenda Wilson and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sons: Pat Phillips and wife Dianne of Broomfield, Colorado and Mike Phillips and wife Karen of Uvalde, Texas; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, June 22, 2007 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to Vistacare Hospice, 4418 Olton Rd. Plainview, TX 79072 or “Twenty –six Twelve” Foundation, 120 W. 3rd Street, Suite 111, Ft. Worth, TX 76102.
