Elizabeth “Liz” Swanson, 83, of Plainview, passed away at 10:03 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 in First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Manual Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Swanson was born on December 30, 1923 in Amarillo to Ray and Irene Dyer. She graduated from Plainview High School. She married Jack Swanson on December 31, 1958 in Plainview. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and transitioned with the company retiring from AT&T after 35 years of service. Her hobbies include antiquing, shopping, and painting. She loved and drew comfort from family, church, and special friends. She was a member of the First Assembly of God, Pink Ladies Auxiliary, and D.A.R. Survivors include her four children Dan Swanson of Cameron, Louisiana, Donna Ferguson of San Angelo, April Wade and husband Jim of Amarillo, Sandra Bloom and Husband John of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Bob Ferguson and wife Deidre, Don Ferguson and wife Jennifer, Shelly Thrasher and husband Shannon, Amy Wade, and Jenna Decker and husband Justin; five great grandchildren Brendon and Kody Thrasher, Alex and Ashton Ferguson, Derc Decker; Memorials may be made to B.S.A. Hospice and Meals on Wheels, or a favorite charity. Visitation will be from 1 until service time on Friday at the First Assembly of God.
