Silverton, Texas—Riley Joe Ziegler, 77, died Monday, August 8, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loved ones in Silverton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Silverton with Brother Don Martin, a Primitive Baptist Church minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Silverton Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A family and friends visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the funeral home in Tulia. He was born February 17, 1934 in Briscoe County to J.A. and Hattie Ziegler. He attended schools in Silverton. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and then served 4 years in the Navy Reserves. He married Lois Butcher November 27, 1954 in Clovis, NM. For many years Riley Joe farmed in Briscoe County, owned a well servicing company, did custom harvesting and operated a fish farm. He was a member and deacon of the Primitive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Violet Thomas and one great grandchild: Kelby. He is survived by his wife: Lois Ziegler of Silverton, two sons: Dean Ziegler of Houston and Brad Ziegler and his wife Jon Etta of Silverton, two daughters: Karen Boyd of The Woodlands and Delinda Ziegler Null and her husband Mike of Galveston Co., four sisters: Clara McCain of Lockney, June Gore of Tulia, Faye Pointer of Quitaque, and JoAnn Vaughn of Tulia, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was loved by all and lived a life serving God and others. Memorials may be made to Hospice Hands of West Texas, 305 N. Main, Lockney, TX 79241.
