Fredda Briggs Miller, 89, of Tulia, died at 9:40p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004 in Floydada. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. She was born on June 4, 1915 in Lampasas, Texas. The family settled north of Tulia in the Childress Community in 1926. She graduated from Happy High School in 1932 as Valedictorian of her class. She later graduated from Amarillo Beauty College. She married Fred Miller on January 25, 1939 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They lived in Amarillo until 1952 when they moved to Lubbock. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1959. They returned to live in Tulia, Texas so she could help in the care of her mother, Vera Briggs and three brothers, R.L., Phillip and Jimmie Briggs who all preceded her in death. Her husband of 64 years passed away on November 3, 2003. Fredda worked for Sears until she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 51 years, enjoyed china and oil painting and was a gifted seamstress. Survivors include One Daughter and Son-in-Law: Nelda and Dwight Whitwell of Happy, Texas, Five Grandchildren and spouses: Janis Jones of Mesa, Arizona, James Jones of Richmond, Texas, John and Joyce Jones of Advance, North Carolina, Julie and Michael Hahn of Valley Falls, Kansas and Fred and Amy Jones of Birmingham, Alabama; also by Three Great Grandchildren; Jennifer Jones of Waco, Texas, Michaela Hahn of Valley Falls, Kansas and Kyrie Turner of Birmingham, Alabama.
