Silverton, Texas—Grover “Pa” Thomas, 75, died August 25, 2011 in Plainview. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 29, 2011in the First Baptist Church of Silverton with Stanley Huffty and Leo Reed, officiating. Burial will follow in Silverton Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Grover was born September 23, 1935 in Claytonville, New Mexico to Grover and Ada Thomas. He attended Hay Lake Community and Silverton Schools. He married Syble McKay on April 15, 1956 in Clovis, NM. He worked for Briscoe County for 57 years. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and listening to Bluegrass music. Survivors include one son: Donald Thomas and his wife Rosa of Plainview, two daughters: Norlin Mora and her husband Ramon of Amarillo and Ann Collie and her husband Randy of Plainview, two sisters: Winnie Smith of Silverton and Inez Richardson of Tulia, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a special friend; Dora Bullock. He is preceded in death by his wife: Syble in 2007, his parents: Grover and Ada Thomas, four brothers: Buck Thomas, Windle Thomas, Floyd Thomas, and Windfred Thomas, four sisters: Mattie Shockley, Ida Mae Hardin, Josie Cagle, and Ruby Hester. Memorials can be made to the Masonic Lodge in Quitaque, Texas.
