Mary Keel, 83, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2011 in Plainview. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. John Powell of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mary was born on April 27, 1928 in Comanche County, Texas. She grew up in Comanche County and married Charles Franklin Keel on December 30, 1944. They moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1961. They owned and operated Keel’s Photography from 1968 until Charles death in 1982. She carried on with the business before retiring in 2006. She was a member New Mexico Professional Photographers Association serving as a Past President and the Southwest Professional Photographers Association. She received many awards during her career. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alamogordo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two grandchildren, Christopher Wakefield, and Shannon Cornwell; and her mother Beetha Moore. Mary is survived by five daughters, Pam Cornwell and husband Bob of McKinney, Beverly Canerdy and husband John of Evensville, TN, Cindy Jennings and husband Dalton of Plainview, Peggy Wakefield and husband Jim of Mesquite, Charlene Wiegel and husband Jonathan of Rio Rancho, NM; one brother, Hollis Carleton and wife Lyn of Wallisville, TX; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
