Robert Samuel “Sammy” Pinkerton, Jr., 63, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 in Plainview. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 5, 2011 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeff Taylor, Pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Robert was born on June 17, 1948 in Plainview to Robert & Ruth Pinkerton, Sr. He grew up in Halfway and attended schools in Plainview. He was a Paratrooper in the United States Army for several years. Robert was a mechanic and worked on cars and trucks. He also worked at the Gin for his father. He attended First United Methodist Church. He married Maria Riquelme on October 19, 1973 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Samuel Pinkerton, Sr.; and one son, Robert Christopher Pinkerton. He is survived by wife, Maria Riquelme Pinkerton of Florida; two sons, Steven Scott Pinkerton of Mary Esther, FL, and Richard Alan Pinkerton of DeBerry, TX; his mother, Ruth Pinkerton of Plainview, TX; and one brother Charles Fain Pinkerton of Anchorage, AK.
