Frankie D. Brookins(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Frankie D. Brookins, 85, died Friday, September 16, 2011 in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Central Church of Christ in Tulia, Texas with Mr. Bruce Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Frankie was born February 13, 1926 in China Springs, Texas to Sam and Mary Johnson. She grew up in the China Springs and Waco area. She married J.W. Brookins on September 19, 1950 in Waxahachie. They moved to Tulia in 1952. She worked at Highland Elementary and Swisher Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s assistant until her retirement. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Tulia. She is survived by her husband: J. W. Brookins of Tulia, two daughters: Barbara Brookins Hill of Cedar Hill and Mae Hawthorne of Tulia, three sons: Gilbert Brookins of Tulia, Freddie Brookins of Tulia, and Bon Johnson of Dallas, two sisters: Grace Newson of Victoria and Inez Johnson of Crawford, her aunt: Bertha Sadler-Means of Austin, twenty-eight grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Mary Johnson, two daughters: Patricia Brookins and Rebecca Caldwell, one son: Jerry Brookins, three sisters: Eliza Pollard, Irene Robinson, and Dorothy Moore, two brothers: Jeff Johnson and Elmer Bradshaw, two daughters: Patricia Brookins and Rebecca Caldwell and one son: Jerry Brookins.
