Mattie Joy Johnson (Plainview)

Mattie Joy Johnson, 74, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Garland St. Church of Christ with Mr. Weldon Melton officiating and Mr. Steve Gaunt assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Mattie was born on November 4, 1936 to Wesley and Ruby Banister in Hedley, Texas. She married Waylon Johnson in March of 1965 in Plainview, Texas. She was a member of Garland St. Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; Wesley & Ruby Banister; and one grandson, Jeremy Ellena. She is survived by her husband, Waylon Johnson of Plainview, TX; two daughters, Debbie Hearn & husband Rodney of Plainview, Texas and Jennie Johnson & husband Charley Reese of Lubbock, Texas; one son Eddie Johnson of Gainsville, TX; one sister, Jerry Woods of Canyon, TX; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
