James Roy Collins "J.R." "Harrison" went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. James was born on April 26, 1928 to Sol & Annie (Branham) Collins in Cowlington Oklahoma the second of six children. During the years of 1945-1949 James was in the United States Navy. On July 28, 1948 James and Ruby Dean Wallis were united in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada they were able to celebrate 63 years of marriage. To this marriage they had three children, James Michael, Richard Harrison, & Brenda Gail they also adopted three of their great granchildren Jonathon Blake, Maegan LeAnn, Sean Michael. During their marriage James was ordained by the Pentecostal Church of God of America on June 3, 1964. James and Ruby pastored many churches from Texas to Nebraska. James is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Helen Parks, brother A.T. Collins, brother Jim Collins. James is survived by his wife of the home Ruby, sons Mike & wife Jessie Collins of Hale Center, Richard and wife Judy Collins of Perryton, daughter Brenda & husband Jim Thrasher of Urbandale IA, son Jonathon Collins of Amarillo, daughter Maegan Collins of Hale Center, and son Sean Collins of Plainview. He is also survived by brothers Harold Collins and Bobby Branhan both of Van Buren, AR. Grandchildren Cindy Collins, James "Pete" Collins, Kim Taylor, Gail Ramsay, Cory Collins, Brynea Daman, Amanda Thrasher and Steven Martinez. Also he is survived by 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Celebration of life will be Monday October 24, 2011 at 2pm at First Assembly of God in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Interment will follow in Hale Center Cemetery. The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home Sunday from 4 – 6 pm. The family suggests memorials Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Rd. Suite C, Plainview, TX 79072.
