Idella Sturgess(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Idella Sturgess, 94, died Monday, October 31, 2011 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 in the Central Church of Christ with Bruce Baird, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Idella was born June 10, 1917 in Wiley, Texas to I.B. and Della Huff. She grew up in Tipton, Oklahoma where she attended Laing Community Schools. She married Morgan Sturgess on January 30, 1938 in Tipton. In March 1949 they moved to Tulia. She was a housewife and she was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons: Jerry Sturgess and wife Gwynette of La Rue, TX and Larry Sturgess and wife Penny of Tulia, TX, three daughters: Elaine Wakefield and husband Larry of Willow Park, TX, Lanette Roach of Tulia, TX and Roxanne Adams and husband Donald of Tulia, TX, one sister: Marjorie Hartwick of Tulsa, Oklahoma, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and seven great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: I.B. and Della Huff, four brothers, five sisters, her husband: Morgan Sturgess and one great grandson: Chase Mitchell.
