Tulia, Texas— Wilma Arnold, 87, of Midland, Texas passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2005 at 2:00P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Tulia with Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Visitation with family and friends will be held at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Sunday, March 20, 2005 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held at Polo Park Retirement Center in Midland, Texas where she resided, the date is pending. Wilma was born September 19, 1917 in Wheeler, Texas to Elmore and Mary Roden. Wilma married Joe Arnold from Turkey, Texas where they lived until moving to Tulia in 1937. She worked at the First National Bank where she retired after 35 years. Wilma was an active member of the First Baptist Church and taught Bible and Sunday School for many years. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. After moving to Midland in September 2000, Wilma resided at Polo Park Retirement Center. She enjoyed bridge and living close to her family. Wilma was a loving mother of two children: a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Gordon Knox of Midland, Texas, and a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rita Arnold of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters: Mary Daniel and Wanda Thaxton, both of Amarillo, Texas. Five Grandchildren: Renee Wesley and husband Hal of Arlington, Texas Randy Benefield and wife Krista of Arlington, Texas Jayde Arnold of Midland and Jai Ja White of Midland, and Shai McMorries and Husband Vance of Tarzan, and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Arnold, her parents, Elmore and Mary Roden, a sister, Juanita Blake, and a great-grandson, Cortlyn Arnold.
