Troy Brown (Plainview)

Troy Brown, 82, of Hale Center, passed away on December 25, 2011 in Lubbock. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Dr. Carrol Green officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Troy was born January 3, 1929 to Bayles and Bevie Brown in Lorraine, TX. He attended Texas A&M and later graduated from Howard College with an associates degree. He married Mildred Houchin August 15, 1947 in Ackerly, TX. He farmed in Ackerly and Slaton until moving to Hale Center in 1951, where he continued to farm. Troy was on the Hale Center ISD Board, Hale Center COOP Gin Board, FSA County Committee, and Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum Board. He was also a deacon at First Baptist church for over 53 years. He was a Gideon and was awarded Hale Center Farm Family of the Year in 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bayles & Bevie Brown; and his daughter, Linda Yvonne Brown. He is survived by his wife Mildred Brown of Hale Center; two sons Don Brown & wife Brenda of Hale Center, and Dean Brown & wife Mickey of Canyon, TX; one brother, Billy Brown & wife Gracie of Ackerly, TX; one sister Dovie Jo Batson of Ackerly, TX; four grandchildren, Melinda Brown of Plainview, TX, Cindy Munson & husband Josh of Bryan, TX, Stephen Brown & wife Shannon of Temple, TX and 2nd Lt. Jess & 2nd Lt. Nick Charney of Columbus Air Force Base, MS; and four great grandchildren, Brendon Brown, Caroline, Annaliese, Millicent Munson.
