Wanda Alexander, 86, of Tulia passed away on December 30, 2011 in Tulia. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 3, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Tulia with Rev. James Hassell of Ft. Worth officiating and Chaplain Oscar Chavez of Plainview assisting. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Monday evening, January 2, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Wanda was born on August 13, 1925 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma to Preston and Ellen Mason. She attended schools in Davidson and graduated from Davidson High School in 1943. She worked for the Ration Board on the Air Base in Fredrick, OK for 2 years; she farmed with her husband, and then worked as a Chief Program Asst. for USDA ASCS office in Tulia for 39 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Senior Citizens where she served on its board, also the Swisher County Foundation Board, and Swisher County Museum Board. She was a member of the ABC Club, Sunshine Girls, and the First Baptist Church where she volunteered for many activities and duties. She was a personal secretary to a multitude of Kids for their 4-H Record books. She married Oscar Alexander on November 22, 1947 in Floydada, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nora Mae Vines; and two brothers, Jim Ed and George Mason. Wanda is survived by her son, Craig Alexander and wife Deby of Haslet, Texas; granddaughter, Meredith Overbeck and husband Jimmy of Decatur, Texas; grandson, Eric Brandt and wife Wendy of Ft. Worth, Texas; great grandchildren, Jacob and Kylynn Overbeck, Kyrstin and Tyler Brandt; two brothers, Jack Mason of Grand Prairie, Texas, Bill Mason of Arlington, Texas; niece, Charlotte Cheak and husband Richard of Ft. Worth, Texas; great niece, Christine Black and husband Corey of Ft. Worth; great great nephew and niece Aaron Merohney and Krista Merohney; and a multitude of other claimed children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A special thank you to all the very special doctors, nurses, and staff of Swisher Memorial Hospital, Home Health, and Area Community Hospice of Plainview. Their special care of Wanda was greatly appreciated. The family suggests memorials to the Senior Citizens Home Delivery or Area Community Hospice of Plainview.
