Tom Stapleton, 63, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away at 9:40 P.M. Saturday, August 4, 2007. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Northside Baptist Church in Abernathy with Rev. Harold Poage officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Stapleton was born on July 26, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1962. He worked with his father at Stapleton Brothers Machine Company. Amarillo Gear Company purchased the family business and Tom managed the business until its closure. He moved to Arkansas in 1985 and worked for Riceland Machine for several years. He then worked for North American Marine Jet before retiring in 1999. He was a charter member of the Northside Baptist Church in Abernathy. Survivors include two sons, Vince of Dallas, Debs and his wife Jackie of McKinney; a brother, Shelby Stapleton of Amarillo; a sister, Fern Moseley of Earth; and two grandchildren, Sheldon Fulton and Stefhanie Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.S. and Anna Mae Stapleton.
