Billie Jean Goree, 83, of Halfway, passed away January 6, 2012 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 P.M. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Mrs. Goree was born February 18, 1928 in Hardeman County to Andrew (Lace) Franklin and Myrtle Pruitt. She married Harold Goree on September 3, 1943 in Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1988. She was a long time resident of Halfway and a member of First Baptist Church of Halfway. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son Randy Goree. She is survived by one daughter: Leta Moore & husband Randall of Plainview; three sons: Jimmy Goree & wife Diane of Plainview, Alton Goree & wife Linda of New Castle, Texas and Larry Goree & wife Pat of Deerfield, KS; two brothers: Bobby Pruitt of Vernon, Texas and Eddy Pruitt of Edmonson; one sister: Frankie Marquart of Quanah, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
