Guadalupe Casanova (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Guadalupe G. Casanova, 86, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Marco Gonzales, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Guadalupe was born June 6, 1925 in Mercedes, Texas to Paz and Dolores Gonzales, Sr. She attended elementary school there and then was raised in Mexico by her grandparents. She married Alejandro Casanova, Sr. on February 16, 1940 in Mercedes. They lived in the Rio Grande Valley until they moved to Tulia in 1950. She was a homemaker and loved flowers and her yard work. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit and the Guadalupanas. She is preceded in death by her parents: Paz and Dolores Gonzales, Sr., her husband: Alejandro Casanova, Sr., two sons: Adan Casanova and John Casanova, three sisters: Eva Perez, Edna Garza, Esther Martinez and two grandsons: Mark Luna and Fernando Guzman. Survivors include four sons: Bernardo Casanova, Robert Casanova and Alejandro Casanova, Jr., all of Houston and Frederico Casanova of Amarillo, six daughters: San Juana Cueller of Weslaco, Aurora Gonzales of San Angelo, Selia Guzman of Royce City, Belia Sanchez of Amarillo, Maria DeJesus Guerrero of San Antonio and Evangelina Rivera of Amarillo, four sisters: Mary Lou Chapa of Tulia, Martha Isaguirre of Hart, Oralia Huron of Tulia and Emma Castillo of Tulia, four brothers: Paz Gonzales, Jr. of Tulia, Ramiro Gonzales of Elsa, Ruben Gonzales of Tulia and Faulistino Gonzales of Big Spring, 35 grandchildren and numerous great and great, great grandchildren.
