Winnie Smith (Plainview)

Winnie Smith, 90, of Plainview passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Travis Bennett, Associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Smith was born on December 26, 1916 in Oklahoma. She grew up in the Sandhill community near Floydada. She graduated from Floydada High School in 1932. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 30 plus years as a operator. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Bechtold of Plainview; one son, Dewayne Smith of San Antonio; one brother, Charles Box of LeMesa, California; four sisters, Janie Pillow of Amarillo, JoNell Sims of Friona, Sammie Patterson of Plainview, Margaret Brown of Brownfield; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
