Ruby D. Collins 79, of Hale Center passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 surrounded by family. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 23, 2012 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Rod Messer and Rev. Carrol Messer officiating. Interment will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. Ruby was born December 17, 1932 to Thomas and Ollie (Miller) Wallis in Floydada, Texas. She was united in marriage to James Harrison Collins on July 28, 1948. They were able to celebrate 63 years of marriage. Ruby served beside her husband James in ministry, pastoring churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Ruby had a true love for people. She was known for being a wonderful cook, organizing many church dinners and welcoming guest into their home to enjoy her hospitality and good cooking. Ruby was devoted to her family, being a housewife, mother and granny. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons: Mike Collins and wife Jessie of Hale Center, Richard Collins and wife Judy of Perryton; her daughter: Brenda Thrasher and husband Jim of Urbandale, Iowa; Adopted children: Jonathon Collins of Amarillo, Maegan Collins of Plainview and Sean Collins of Plainview; Sisters: Nan Graves of Amarillo, Myrtle Bridges of Amarillo and Lois Turner of San Antonio; Grandchildren: Cindy Collins, James ‘Pete’ Collins, Kim Taylor, Gail Ramsay, Cory Collins, Brynea Daman, Amanda Thrasher and Steven Martinez. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren, along with many nieces, and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edward ‘Buddy’ Wallis, sisters Pearl Dunn, and Mable Coatney. Her beloved husband, James Harrison went to his heavenly home on October 19, 2011.
