Tulia, Texas—Odelene A. Tole, 93, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the Central Church of Christ with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Odelene Candler was born November 9, 1913 in Coleman County to John and Annie (Motley) Candler. She grew up in Coleman County and graduated from high school there. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton. She taught school in Flower Bluff and Corpus Christi. She married John Tole on August 2, 1939 in Coleman. They moved to Tulia in 1944 where they owned and operated Tole’s Variety Store and Ben Franklin Store. She was also a homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ. Mr. Tole died in February 2000. Survivors include her daughter; Sharon Anderson of Amarillo and her son Bryan Tole of Tulia, also three grandchildren; Shane Anderson of Austin and Bethany Bivens of Euless and Bart and Casey Bivens of Miami, Texas and three great grandchildren; Camille Bivens, Heath Bivens and Holt Bivens all of Miami, Texas. Memorials may be made to the High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western St., Amarillo, Texas 79118. A visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
