Lou Barnes(Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— Katherine Louise “Lou” Barnes, 83, died peacefully at her home in Mesquite, Texas on Monday, April 11, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Eben Emerson, pastor of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm in Idalou Cemetery in Idalou, Texas under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mrs. Barnes was born June 4, 1921 in Mineral Wells, Texas, she attended schools in Silverton. She was baptized in the Central Church of Christ in Tulia. She married Nick Barnes on April 5, 1940. He died February 15, 1995. She owned and operated the Modern Motel, with her mother, in Tulia from 1939 until she retired in 2003. She is also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Her family will miss her sweet spirit and twinkling eyes. Her family includes: 4 Nieces: Mary Middleton of Dallas, Texas Vicki Smith of Richardson, Texas Geri McNabb of Stella, Missouri Jean Sparti of Sweetwater, Texas 2 Nephews: Joe Middleton of McKinney, Texas Bob Middleton of Clovis, New Mexico 17 great nieces and nephews including Michelle Wright of Stephenville, Texas Memorials may be made to the: National Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
