Tulia, Texas—L. J. “Dick” Carver, 76, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Friday, February 24, 2012 at the funeral home. L.J. was born July 14, 1935 in Foreman, Arkansas to Luther and Katie Carver. He grew up in Foreman. He married Clara Belle Clayton on August 6, 1953 in Foreman. They moved to Swisher County in 1958. He operated the Happy Mobil Station for years. He drove a cattle truck for Andy Taylor in Plainview for years and also worked as a night watchman at Tulia Feedlot for several years. He is preceded in death by his parents: Luther and Katie Carver, his wife Clara Carver, a daughter: Diane Owens, two brothers: Johnny Carver and Andrew Carver, a sister: Shirley Gallmeister and a grandson: Nathan Lindblad. He is survived by three daughters: Lynn Reese and husband Rusty of Plainview, Judy Adams of Plainview and Janice Lindblad of Tulia, one son-in-law: Rick Owens of Lubbock, two brothers: Jerry Carver of Foreman, Arkansas and Earl Carver of Fisher, Louisiana, six sisters: Bonnie Sue Franklin of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Marsha Ann Martin of Foreman, Arkansas, Charlotte Richardson of Fouke, Arkansas, Betty Jean Fry of Spanaway, Washington, Patty Malone of Hope, Arkansas and Reba Gay Bartlett of Texarkana, Arkansas, five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren.
