Gabino “Gabby” Barrera, 43 passed into his heavenly Father’s arms surrounded by his loving family Sunday, March 4, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2pm Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church Hale Center, TX with Rev. Robert Malcolm officiating. Interment will following in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Gabby was born January 17, 1969 in Laredo, Texas to Jesus C. and Guadalupe G. Barrera. He attended school in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1987. Gabby was a car salesman and worked at auto dealerships in Amarillo, Lubbock and Plainview. He also worked in sales at Hamby in Plainview. The joys of Gabby’s life were his daughter, Maddison and his family. He loved being with his family and always placed them on a pedestal. Gabby was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and nephew. He truly had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. Gabby had a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew him. Gabby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Doroteo and Paula Gomez. Those left to cherish his memories are his beautiful ballerina – daughter: Maddison Arielle-Anne Barrera of Valparaiso, Florida; his parents: Jessie and Lupe Barrera of Plainview; his brothers: Martin Barrera of Lubbock, Jess Barrera and wife Courtnei of Hale Center; his sisters: Rosa Lees of Lubbock and Juanita Minnick and husband Charlie of Lubbock: his nieces and nephews: Peyton Minnick, Jarrod Minnick, Justin Betancur, Jarod and Courtney Gonzales, Jacei and Jayden Barrera, Amber Lees, Dillon and Melody Lees, Addie Lees, Jess Lees and Kim Vail; and his great nieces and nephews: Brayden and Alayna Betancur, Lilly Gonzales, Ashton Perez, Brandon Alonzo; and his special friend: Stacey Stevens. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lara, Sandra, the staff at Covenant Hospital in Plainview, especially Lydia and Pat, and Area Community Hospice of Plainview for their compassion and care.
