Funeral services for Tommy Hewlett, 76, of Tulia will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. He died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Swisher Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hewlett was born Oct. 24, 1928 in Wilson. He grew up in Ropesville and attended schools there. He graduated from high school in 1946 and the Texas Tech University in 1950. On Aug. 29, 1950, he married Joyce Tabor in Lubbock. He was an assistant county agent in Hale County for three years. He began selling seed for Taylor-Evans and Golden Acres and later became a sales manager. They moved to Tulia in 1965. He retired in 1994 after 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hewlett of Tulia; a daughter, Cindy Hewlett of Denton; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mac and Roberta Hewlett of Mineral Wells, and Jay Hewlett of Tulia; a sister, Billie Ruth McKee of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Zac Rogers of Denton, Kristi Payne of Mineral Wells, and Stanley Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada; two great grandchildren, Madeline Payne and Jack Payne of Mineral Wells. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Hewlett. The family suggests memorials to the Driskill House, 1202 N. Hwy 87, Tulia, TX 79088.
