Betty Starnes (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— Betty L. Starnes, 84, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2012 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Betty was born January 21, 1928 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Clifford and Edna Henthorn. She grew up in Weatherford and moved to Tulia during her high school years and attended Tulia High School. She married Kenneth Starnes on November 1, 1947 in Clovis, NM. She worked for Bell Telephone as an operator. She sewed clothes for the public and also worked at the cleaners in Tulia. Her husband died April 5, 1996. She is survived by her children: Dale Starnes and wife Donna of Lakeland, Tennessee, Richard Starnes of Tulia and Linda Bittick and husband Dave of Midlothian, Texas, two brothers: Don Henthorn of Tulia and Jimmy Moore of Tulia and one sister: Nancy Riffe of Cassville, Missouri, four grandchildren: Douglas Starnes of Lakeland, Tenn., Darren Starnes of Lakeland, Ten., Krystal Helton of Dallas and Neyla Braddock and husband Coty of Tulia, four great grandchildren: Brittney Birkenfeld and husband Jason of Nazareth, Brook Phillips and husband Evan of Tulia, Tabitha Braddock of Tulia and Jacob Braddock of Tulia, four great, great grandchildren: Brooklyn and Avery Birkenfeld of Nazareth and Sabrie and Trevor Phillips of Tulia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Joe and C.R. Henthorn and one sister: Gena Fae Hart.
