William R. “Bill” Hogge, 79, of Plainview passed away Sunday, September 9, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 13, 2007 at St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Curtis Halfman, retired priest from Lubbock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. He was born to Russell and Fidelia Hogge on September 26, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas. He grew up in the St. Francis community just outside of Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944. He attended Amarillo College before transferring to Oklahoma University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He married Helen Kiser on November 25, 1950 in Pampa, Texas. They moved to Plainview where he was employed by the City of Plainview for 38 years. He served as the City Engineer and later the Director of Public Works. He was the Past President of the Texas Public Works Association, District Governor of the Lions District 2-2, member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight, member of the St. Alice Catholic Church where he served in various capacities. He also served the Diocese of Lubbock on various committees. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club of Plainview and served every office. He was also a lifetime member of the Salvation Army. He is survived by his wife, Helen Hogge of Plainview; his children, Larry Hogge of Silver City, New Mexico, Becky Hogge Disbrow of Eureka, Montana, Eddy Hogge of Carrollton, Texas, Kay Hogge of Austin, Susan Atchley of Wylie, Jeanne Ellis of Lakeway, Texas; his grandchildren, Laura Goynes, Caitlin and Jamie Hogge, Veronica and Austin Atchley, Ruel and Emma Ellis, Ivan and Eric Hogge; a brother, Dr. J.H. Hogge of Nashville, Tennessee; and a niece, Caroline Hogge of Glendale, California. Rosary/Wake services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. September 12, 2007 in the Chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the following organizations: Texas Lions Camp, P.O.
