Tulia, Texas--Leta Walker, 95, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at her residence in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Nelson, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A family and friends visitation will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Leta was born March 6, 1917 in Wiermert, Texas to John E. and Maud Berner Kelso. She married Raymond Walker on Dec. 11, 1938. He died Sept. 6, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters. Her family includes one daughter: Doris McKernan of Cabot, AR, two sons: Weldon Walker and wife Irene of Foley, AL and Wade Walker of Tulia, five grandchildren: James McKernan, Karen Owens, Randall Walker, Cynthia Walker and Jenifer Walker and four great grandchildren. Leta was a busy farm wife who enjoyed her children and their activities. When she moved to Tulia she became interested incrafts and other hobbies. She especially enjoyed the fellowship of her friends.
