Carolyn A. Farris (Plainview)

Carolyn Ann Farris, 73, of Plainview went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with Oscar Chavez, chaplain for Area Community Hospice, officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Farris was born on July 18, 1938 in Plainview to Herman and Margia West. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1956, and received her Pest Control License. She was an owner of Farris Pest Control Service. She married Billy Farris in December of 1970 in Plainview. Mrs. Farris worked at the City National Bank for eleven years, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch and Lowes Supermaket prior to moving to the gulf coast. Upon returning to Plainview she worked at Furrs Cafeteria and United Supermarket in the deli for eleven years. She was a past member of the Beta Sigma Phi and sponsor for the Plainview High School Rodeo Club for four years. Survivors include, two daughters, Donna Whitsitt, and Diane Brownlee and husband Brandon both of Plainview; three stepdaughters, Becky Payne and husband Jimmy, Carolyn Robinson and husband Dana, both of Amarillo, Sandy Melton and husband Johnny of Aransas Pass, TX; five grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; Charleene Burns, a cousin of Amarillo, and Special family Weldon, William and Cristie Baldwin of Plainview. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy and stepson Eddie. Carolyn was greatly loved and will be missed by those who knew her. She was friend to everyone who made her acquaintances. She took pride in her work and loved to help and show compassion to others.
