Carmen Alvarez (Tulia)

Carmen Alvarez, 54, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2005 at Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2005 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Carmen was born April 10, 1951 in Hayes County, Texas. She grew up in Tulia and attended schools there. After high school, she attended Amarillo College for a couple of years. She married Joe Alvarez on November 2, 1984 in Tulia. She worked at a number of jobs but was mainly a homemaker and housewife. She is survived by her husband, Joe Alvarez of Tulia; six children, Rosie Ramirez, Toni Ramirez, Bibo Ramirez, Joey Alvarez, Amos Alvarez all of Tulia, and Eric Ramirez of Livingston, Texas; her father, Seldedonio Zuniga, Sr. of Tulia; four brothers, Jesse Zuniga, Jiimmy Zuniga, Federico Zuniga all of Tulia, and Seledonio Zuniga, Jr. of Amarillo, three sisters, Mary Ann Madrigal of Tulia, Silvia Rosales of Tulia, and Lucy Cansino of Plainview. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jovita Rodriguez and mother Jovita Zuniga. Memorials may be sent to: Odyssey Healthcare, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, Texas 79101 A prayer service will also be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.
