Robert Garth (Bob) Greer On Sunday May 27th around 6 P.M., Robert Garth (Bob) Greer surrounded by his loving family left this earth to be with his heavenly Father. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 10:30 A.M. in the Family Life Chapel of the First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors on Wednesday, May 30th from 6 to 8 P.M. Bob was born in Wheeler, TX on July 12, 1923 to Lin and Pearl Greer. His brothers were Lin and Doyle Greer and his sister was Olene Hicks all who predeceased him. After graduating from Plainview High School in 1942, Bob joined the Navy and served on the USS New Jersey. After being discharged, Bob returned to Plainview where he married the love of his life Ruth Ellis on April 17, 1945 in Plainview. Bob and Ruth just celebrated their 68th Wedding anniversary. During most of his working career Bob sold farm equipment, retiring from Hesston Corporation in 1984. They moved to Possum Kingdom Lake where they were avid fishermen. They returned to their hometown of Plainview three years ago. Bob referred both football and basketball for 25 years. He was active in both the First Baptist Church while in Plainview and also West Lake Chapel at Possum Kingdom. While living in Plainview Bob and Ruth were blessed with four children; Vicki Ballard and her husband Jerry from Alto, NM, Cindy Pritchard and husband Randy of Plainview, Brad Greer and wife Jane of Richardson, and Bart Greer and wife Shawnda of Floydada. In addition they had 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and spouses whom they so enjoyed. Brandon and Shanna Pritchard plus Lauren, Cole, and Cade of Plainview; Brook and Charlie Goldmeyer of Cypress, TX plus Jack, Ella, and Nate; Beth and Russel Wehrman of Richardson; Ben and Naomi Greer of Frisco, Co; Tate Greer of Floydada and Blake Greer of Lubbock. The Greer family would like to lovingly thank all the wonderful and compassionate caretakers from Raider Ranch and Interim Home Health Care and Hospice who took such good care of Bob. The family suggests donations may be made to Bob’s favorite charity, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, or the First Baptist Church of Plainview, or Charity of your Choice.
